Action research

I’ve never been a believer in ivory-tower consultancy.  Nor do I feel that consultants should run so hard chasing fee-earning work that they never take time to reflect.  I like to make connections between theory and practice.

I’m proud of my track record of engaging with stakeholders, facilitating cross-employer activities, and producing well-researched and readable reports on employment and skills issues, whether at company, sector, or country-wide level.

I would describe it as ‘action research’ – taking well-researched concepts and ideas into the real world and testing them out with real people in organisations, then developing simple tools to capture the learning, and using those in future research projects.
